What is "Sinusitis Migraine and Untreated Diseases Research Association (SMUDRA)?"
A Sinusitis Migraine and Untreated Diseases Research Association (SMUDRA) is anyone asking or collecting contributions from the public and claiming it will be used to support a charitable activity. Charitable is broadly defined and includes activities such as health education, recreational, social, patriotic, legal defense, benevolent, or health causes.
What is the difference between a Nonprofit Corporation and a (SMUDRA)?
A not-for-profit corporation is an entity recognized by the state of Rajasthan when the "non-profit articles of incorporation" are filed with the Corporations Division of the Secretary of State. Sinusitis Migraine and Untreated Disease Research Association (SMUDRA) is any person or organization, (regardless of corporate status) that raises funds in Rajasthan to support a charitable activity. It is not uncommon that a nonprofit corporation is also engaged in charitable activities and is subject to separate reporting requirements from corporations and charitable programs.
158c is a federal tax-exempt status granted by the Internal Revenue Service. Certain requirements established through the Internal Revenue Code must be met to obtain tax-exempt status. What is a Commercial Fundraiser or Professional Fundraiser?
A Commercial Fundraiser is an independent, third-party fundraiser that conducts fundraising activities for the Sinusitis Migraine and Untreated Diseases Research Association (SMUDRA) in exchange for compensation. It is not uncommon for many Sinusitis Migraine and Untreated Diseases Research Association (SMUDRA) to be hired and paid for by commercial fundraisers for their fundraising services.
Who must register?
In most cases, the law applies to almost every organization or person raising funds in the name of charity in the state of Rajasthan. This includes organizations located outside the state of Rajasthan that request residents of the state of Rajasthan. If a person or organization raises money in the name of a charity, it is considered the "Sinusitis Migraine and Untreated Diseases Research Association (SMUDRA)" for this statute, even if you do not treat the organization as a charity.
